We use sticklike grass called "tekeben" as light at night, but with this solar microgrid, we don't know how to say it but to be grateful to God, we haven't seen this all our life, we just see the light always, no buying of fuel, battery, ahh this is God, and may God bless the person with this initiative. Children read at night before they go to bed. We have stopped buying batteries and kerosene. The community used to be all black and dark at night, so people are scared of going out, but now the night is just like the morning. So no fear, it has really helped us.

These solar microgrids have helped us more than words can say. We no longer buy batteries and kerosene for our lanterns. We work late at night, unlike before when we come back from the farm, our wives comfortably cook our food, prepare ginger for the next day's farm without waiting to wake up early to prepare the seedlings and take them to the farm.
Our children read more now; you see them read at night under the light. They have improved.

The maternity home in the Gaviekodji community also doubles as home to a family whose son experienced third-degree burns from an explosion that occurred from a faulty generator. We had an agreement with the maternity home to reduce the cost charged for pregnant women from 10,000 NGN ($20) to 7,000 NGN ($14) as the condition for installing a solar system. The community welcomed this agreement.
